Tillamook... Right Place, Right Time

Pastor Tim Scarbrough

Rain, wind, hail, and snow on the way! That's how our first week in Tillamook, Oregon has begun. However, we couldn't be more excited than to be right where we are, right now! We've only been here for 5 days and it's been a blessing to meet the people of Tillamook Christian Center and start making a few connections in the community. There's nothing like knowing for certain that you are smack dab in the middle of God's will for your life. Though I miss friends and family at home, right now this is home.

Our journey from Redding to Tillamook couldn't be more timely. A couple weeks before we left, the Lord gave me the day we were to leave. For the most part, the drive was under clear skies, with a bit of rain here and there. The day after we arrived, those same roads and passes were inundated with snow. In the meantime we were snuggled down in our 5th Wheel parked behind the church with full hook-ups, including water and sewer. We feel blessed.

On Saturday, Fanny and I visited Tillamook Creamery and took a self guided tour of the

factory as we saw the process of making cheese. That evening we had an opportunity to meet with some of the church leadership over tacos, rice, refried beans, etc. Then on Sunday it was an opportunity to meet members of the church and share the message God had given me.

Again, we wholeheartedly believe we are in the right place at the right time. There is much work for us to do, but with reliance on the Holy Spirit, and with Christ as our strength, we can do what God has called us to do. We are in the right place at the right time. It truly reminds me of Esther who was chosen as Queen and given the opportunity to speak on behalf of the Jews who were deviously set up to be destroyed. Her Uncle, Mordecai made the following statement:

For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

(Esther 4:14 NKJV)

Through God's providence, Esther was in the right place at the right time. She followed through and spoke to the King and relief came for the Jews. I might not know quite yet each step of God's plan for Fanny and I in Tillamook, but I am certain we are exactly where God wants us to be.

Sometimes we have to take a look around us and see where we are and simply ask God why? What is it that He wants us to do right where we are? It could relate to our geographical location, our job, neighborhood or even our church. You could very well be right where you are because God has something amazing planned for you to accomplish.
